First time writing Piccolo.  I think I did pretty good under the circumstances!!!  XDDD  Sorry this is short, though.  >.>

Characters: PiccoloXRini (CF‘s OC)
Prompt: http://krass62.deviantart.com/art/Ballet-XIII-86028712
Rating: G
Fandom: Dragonball Z
Warnings: A very annoyed Namek

************

Why he had let himself be dragged to a ‘ballet,’ Piccolo would never know.  He almost hated himself for letting it happened.  But alas, he decided it best not to cause any trouble, not to say anything.  He would just snarl and grunt at the people who gave him strange looks, making little kids cry at times.  And then, he would be annoyed by their crying.  It was a no-win situation.

The curtains finally opened and the play finally started.  He just sat there, not paying any real attention to whatever ‘plot’ there may be in this wretched thing.  He just sat there, eyes darting from one prancing person to the next.  His eyes finally settled on one of the main supporting dancers.  He watched her as she pranced and danced until, finally, he realized he had been staring at her.  Piccolo’s eyes widened for a matter of seconds before he lightly blushed and shook his head.

I hadn’t realized until just now HOW lacking in the female character department I was.  I ended up having to actually pull some…  weird stuff…  under that department.  X_______X  Had MORE than enough males to choose from, however.  Guess it’s confirmed that I find guy characters much more awesome than lady characters!  XD

I'm going to list a total of 20 characters (10 male, 10 female). Your job, if you choose to accept it, is to pick two of the characters (can be from same fandom or not) and give me a line of dialogue/song/quote. I will attempt to write something for those two characters interacting.

Male
1. Zarbon (Dragonball Z)
2. Angila (Dragonball Z)
3. Squalo (Katekyo Hitman Reborn)
4. Xanxus (Katekyo Hitman Reborn)
5. Bel (Katekyo Hitman Reborn)
6. Narsko (Original Character)
7. Sage (Original Character)
8. Taisa (Original Character)
9. Matt (Death Note)
10. Mello (Death Note)

Female
11. Colonel Violet (Dragonball)
12. Zangya (Dragonball Z)
13. Minako Aino (Sailor Moon)
14. Urd (Ah! My Goddess)
15. Gold (Original Character)
16. Missy (Original Character)

“STOP IT!!!  MINAGAWA, STOP IT!!!” Rini pleaded, nearly shaking the cage she had been locked in.  Her face was red and puffy, her eyes watery, as the voice that was doing all it could to save her brother’s life was trying to go out.

Taro looked up at her with a bloodied face, then back at Minagawa with a tired, angry expression.  Minagawa chuckled.  “He‘s an obstacle, my love.  Obstacles are to be dealt with.”

Taro snarled at the man before getting his with the whip once more.  Taro was backed up as far as he could in that tiny, little cage; avoiding the whip was impossible.  Minagawa chuckled once more, before backing up.

The siblings looked at him, pondering his next move.  Minagawa looked at a switch to his right.  Taro watched in fear as Minagawa turned the switch down, Taro’s cage moving downwards as well into the flaming pit beneath him.

Taro stood the best he could, hoping to stay away from the heat beneath him.  He glared at Minagawa.  “You‘re insane!!!” he yelled to the man before him.  “You‘re insane!”  He fallen forward and was now balancing himself against the other side of the cage.

Minagawa laughed madly as he watched his would be brother-in-law descend into the pit, screaming.

Rini’s body finally weakened in disbelief…  Her lover, her prince, her everything…  He was doing this.

Minagawa looked up at Rini and smiled as he used to smile.  “What‘s wrong, my love?  We can be together now with no interruptions.  It‘ll be just you and I…  Forever…”

…Forever…

***********

Love causes people to do crazy things.  The additional hint of jealousy is no help, either.  Nor, the fact that some people naturally have the tendency to act…  different…

As Minagawa would work in the kitchen he would occasionally look out of the door’s little window to see if Rini was there for the evening.  Once she was there, he would occasionally glance out, just to get a peek at her lovely face.  However, the scene wasn’t always so lovely.

Sometimes, he would see Maki trying to start up conversation with her, trying to tell her jokes, trying to give her free coffee and desserts.  Maki…  Maki knew what Minagawa was trying to do.  Maki was trying to interrupt this.  Maki was trying to take Rini for himself.  Maki was going to have to pay.

One evening, the two were left alone for cleaning duty.  Minagawa was in the kitchen washing dishes, when Maki came into the kitchen, getting the mop ready.

“So Rini was here today…”

“Yes, she was!” Maki said allowed, tone cheerful.

“…You sound very…  happy… about that…” Minagawa said.  After washing the soap off from the pan in his hand, he picked up a plate and began to wash the remnants away from that.

“Oh yeah!” Maki said with a wide smile, resulting in Minagawa freezing, plate in hand.  Maki resumed, “She‘s quite a catch, really.  A little different than the women I usually go for, but not too different.”

“Mmm…”  Minagawa finished cleaning the plate, then went on to clean a cup.  “You really seem to like her, don‘t you?”

“Yeah.  Of course I do!”  Maki chuckled.  “I think if I played my cards right, she would really come to like me to.”

Minagawa stopped everything, looking down, thinking, talking with the spirits within.

‘Kill him,’ they said.

‘Kill him’

‘Kill him’

‘Kill’

 ‘KILL!!!’

Minagawa nodded.  Now he just had to wait.

Minutes passed by when Maki finally said aloud, “Hey, Minagawa!  Do you remember were the bleach is?”

Minagawa paused, the butcher knife in hand.  “I‘ll get it for you,” he said aloud, sneaking the blade under his belt, which was under his apron.

Maki watched as Minagawa walked toward the closet.  He sensed something was wrong, but didn’t think much of it.  Minagawa was a strange one anyway.

He leaned back against the counter, waiting for Minagawa’s return.  Minagawa finally came out of the closet, bucket full of bleach and floor cleanser, Maki assumed.  Maki held out his hand, waiting for the bucket.  Instead, Minagawa set it down on the ground less than a yard in front of him, mischievous smile on his face.

Maki snarled lightly, not making the expression obvious.  The guy just HAD to be inconvenient.  Minagawa stepped beside Maki.  Maki shook his head as he stepped forward and reached for the bucket, only to be forced back from the yank of his hair, a hand covering his mouth so he couldn‘t be heard.

He heard Minagawa chuckle behind him.  Maki tried to look behind him the best one could in his position.  He failed to see Minagawa, but knew it was him.  It was only a matter of time before he felt the cut of a blade through his cheek bone and watched it ride across his face, blood hitting the surface.

Groans and strained back yells were all held under Minagawa’s hand.  “It seems as if you‘ve picked the wrong card today,” Minagawa said.  He felt Maki tremble and continue his yelling.

He chuckled as he proceeded to shove the blonde man’s face into the bucket of bleach, holding his head down into the bucket as he listened to choking and muffled screams, watching the clear liquid become red, watching as the body slowly stopped moving.

Poor Maki…  I’m so mean to him…  :/  I feel kind of bad, but still…  Meh…  I’ll have to make a fic. Where he comes out on top!  XD

Minagawa looked down at the grave of the one whom he had loved.  His expression was that of one who’s heart had been broken and torn to bits.  The hurt he was feeling was incomparable to anything he had ever felt before.  Ever since her death was proclaimed, he had actually broken down and cried, the first time in years.

Taro looked back at the man, feeling compassion for him for the first time.  He wanted to say something, but had finally decided against it and ultimately decided to leave him alone.

Minagawa didn’t notice him, however.  He hadn’t noticed much.  He took the red roses in his hand and gently tossed them unto her grave, grim look on his face.  He stood there for a few minutes before deciding to leave.

He had hardly taken two steps, before a breeze picked up and was circulating in a strange fashion, Minagawa noticed.  He stood, white rose petals flying from, he didn’t know where, following the wind current.  He felt.  He watched.  He smiled.  He smiled for the first time in weeks.

His love was still watching him.

He sees her coming in.  He sees her lift a cup with rising steam to her lips.  He sees her take a bite of soft, spongy cake, her lips coming down on the fork as it is being pulled out, her jaw moving in a chewing motion as soon as it’s out.  And again, time taken between each bite.  He sees her gazing out the window at passersby.  She stays for a while, sipping her coffee and eating her cake.  She smiles at him, a friendly smile before she looks back out.

That stare…  That gaze…  there is something entrancing about they way she looks at things.  The way her purple irises dance from one place to the other…  So beautiful…  So beautiful, her black pupils against the purple.  Her face…  So beautiful…  Black strands of hair…  So beautiful…  So beautiful…

So beautiful…

“Get back to work, Maki,” Taro says, having eyed Maki for staring at his younger sister.

Maki nods, watching as his love leaves, determined to have her.

Hers.  Hers.  Hers.  She had never had anyone she could call ‘hers’…  He was ‘her’s’…  Minagawa was ‘her’s’.  Minagawa belonged to Rini.  He belonged to her and no one else.

Since the interest was sparked, girls had started disappearing.  Girls that were interested in Minagawa, however few there were, would meet their deaths.  It was assumed that Minagawa was a serial killer, or that he had some sort of curse that killed those who fell for him.

Minagawa knew better than to kill anyone (on purpose), but the latter, he couldn’t help but wonder himself.  So when he finally got Rini, he kept her close, making sure that no harm came to her, making sure that she was happy.  Everything was about Rini.

To Rini, everything was about Minagawa…  Everything…  Taro protested, of course.  Taro protested and then Taro went on ‘vacation’.  He went on a very long vacation, a vacation he would enjoy too much to come back, and if not, the tickets would burn with him.

Taro was on vacation.  And then, she sent Maki on ‘vacation’ to.  Maki was trying to take her from Minagawa and keep her.  Rini would not have that.  Rini would not have that at all.  No.  She wouldn’t have that.  Minagawa belonged to her.  He was her ‘Fumi-kun’.

Minagawa was a strange man, so it would come as no surprise that he enjoyed the company of strange women.  Fumi-kun didn’t know the half of it.

Minagawa opened his eyes slightly, seeing the ceiling and the edge of the dresser.  The next thing he noticed was horrible his head was hurting.  With a soft groan, he slowly sat up, a hand at the back of his head rubbing it as he attempted to recollect exactly what had happened.

He had been working on conducting a spell of some sort, when something pushed him back and made him hit his head against the dresser.  Rini was…  Rini was helping him conduct the spell…  Eyes widened, he rushed up the best he could without getting dizzy.  He grabbed onto the dresser while up and looked at his surroundings.  Everything was a mess, everything torn and destroyed.  But Rini was no where to be found.

Just as soon as he knew he could walk, he made his way toward the door.  “Rini?” he said, just loud enough for her to hear, if she was in the area.  “Rini?”

“…Fumi-kun…”

Minagawa turned around.  To his relief, he saw Rini standing there.  “Rini…”  He walked toward her, face becoming serious.  “Are you okay?”

Rini nodded her head.

She was okay.  But still, Minagawa kept an eye on her.  He was unsure of exactly what had gone wrong and was unsure of what effects would be taken.  She seemed okay.  She seemed a little out of it at times, however.  She’d started liking the blood away from her cuts and would sometimes cut herself on purpose, just to like away the blood…  But then again, Minagawa would do that to sometimes.  Just a habit she must have picked up from him, he supposed.

A few weeks went by.  Maki went on vacation.  Then Taro went on vacation.  It was just him, Jun, and Tokumi for a while.  For a very long while, that is.  Longer than a Café staff member should have been, anyway.  Then, it was only a matter of time before Tokumi went on vacation.

After a conversation with Jun, the two had concluded that this ‘vacation’ was code for ‘getting fired’…  Which was very strange in the case of Taro, the Café’s hardest worker.

One night, Rini and Minagawa took a stroll in the woods.  There was silence, but not the type that he was used to.  Not the type that would normally accompany them on a walk.  For once, it was actually starting to bother Minagawa.

“You‘re brother,” he began, in an effort to make conversation.  “Has he gotten back from vacation yet?”

Rini shook her head.  “Don‘t worry about him,” she said, somewhat, coldly.

Minagawa nodded, sensing…  something…  he wasn’t entirely sure what.

The two continued walking for a few more minutes.  “They‘ve really been working you hard in the café, haven‘t they, Sweety?” Rini finally said.

Minagawa looked down at Rini, subtly suspiciously.  “Sort of.  It‘s only the manager, Jun, and myself right now.  We‘re hiring, however, and some interviews will be in session.”

“Oh…” she said.

And that was all she said that night.

As the days passed on, Minagawa saw Rini a little less, much to his disappointment.  He saw Jun one more time, before he went on the trip he was promised to go on.

A few weeks later, it was just him.  Rini had managed to get a job at the café, so he at least had her…  Physically, that is.  She just didn’t seem to actually ‘be’ there like she was.

The manager had asked to see her one afternoon.  Oddly enough, Minagawa didn’t see her for the rest of the day.  Finally, when the new employees had gone home, he knocked on the office door.  One time…  Two times…  Then, finally, a third time, and the door opened to reveal a dark room.  Had the manager fallen asleep?

“Rini?” he asked softly, so as not to wake the manager.  He stepped into the room, the door slamming behind him.  He didn’t move.  The lights came on, revealing a dead Mr. Manager, sprawled across the desk.  Minagawa’s eyes widened.  He saw a trail of blood and visually followed it to-

“Rini…” the girl was standing behind the door, blood all over her, big, wide grin on her face.

“Rini, why?” he asked, alarmed.  “What happened did you do to the manager?”

“You‘re such a hard worker,” she said with a chuckle.  “You should take a break, my darling Hifumi…  You should take a vacation...”

***************

It was cold.  Bits of snow fell from the sky and unto the ground and unto Rini’s head with no trouble at all.  She pulled her jacket tighter, keeping all of the warm air in.  She remained quiet, not wanting to make a single peep, for she didn’t want to distract Minagawa, whatever he was doing.  She had grown increasingly concerned about him.

It started after the night he disappeared into the forest and didn’t return for three days.  He was so…  emotionless…  quiet…  dead…  He had been acting…  well…  that is what it seemed like is that he had just been ‘acting’ himself upon his return.  His character had no life like it did.  He was there, but…  he wasn’t.

Minagawa wouldn’t talk to anyone about what had happened.  Not even Rini, and that had really been scaring her as he tells her everything.

Finally, she had found him walking toward the forest.  It was in the snow that she was following him, trying to keep quiet.  She didn’t know how long she had been following him.  She wouldn’t turn back, however.  She wanted answers, desperately needed answers.  She had to know what was wrong with her Hifumi.

She watched as he stood on, what looked like, a ledge.  He stood there for several minutes, looking down at something.  Rini stood, anticipating what it was, anticipating his next move as she stood by a tree just far enough to see what he was doing, but far enough to keep out of sight….  Or so she thought.

He turned around, acknowledging her existence with a smile…  But it was a strange smile…  a different smile…  One Rini had never seen before.  She just couldn’t imagine what it meant.  Rini watched as a something -a tear, it seemed- rolled down the side of his cheek.

Before anything could be said or done, Minagawa turned his head back to the area of ground below that he had been staring at and stepped off the ledge.

Rini reacted with a strong gasp, sucking in the cold air, her right hand unsure whether to grab her mouth or her chest.  Her eyes were widened, her body now shaking from fear and shock, rather than the mere cold.  She waited for a sound, a ‘thud’ of sorts.  She waited for about a minute, but never heard anything.

She began panting, struggling for air.  Her trembling worsened, but her curiosity got the best of her.  Slowly, ever so slowly she walked up to the end of the ledge, grasping onto a tree to keep from slipping off herself.  How he had managed to stand without slipping was beyond her.

Taking a good grasp of the branch she was next to, she leaned over, looking down where Minagawa should have fallen.  There, below, was a frozen Minagawa, blood around him as if something had already tried to devour him.  Rini looked horrified at the scene, blood running cold, heart trying to stop, or so she thought.  Slowly, slowly she shook her head, stepped back and away from the edge so that she couldn’t see him.  She fell back, choking back sobs before she finally screamed out in anguish.

An autopsy reported later on that the man had been dead for about a week.  The theory was that he had slipped off the ledge and had broken his legs, only to be devoured by a local pack of wolves.

Another autopsy theorized that she jumped down towards him, which was what had broken her neck.

Was debating on whether or not to have Rini commit a dramatic suicide….  But then I got to thinking, that if it was a ‘surprise’…  I dunno.  *Shrug*  Could have been worded better, I guess.  XP

It was beautiful.  It was all so beautiful.  How Minagawa managed to create such a view with only a spell, Rini felt she would never know.  The light was multicolored.  Butterflies were everywhere, flapping their wings and showing off their textured beauty.  Minagawa stood by the side, watching as his beauty admired the sight.  It really made him happy to see the joy and admiration on her face.  He would do anything to see that look on her face.  He would go to any lengths, both, necessary and unnecessary.

He crushed some sort of ‘dust’ into a bowl and waved his hand around the top of it, as he chanted some strange little melody.  Rose petals emerged from the ceiling, falling everywhere, a soft, gentle breeze guiding them around the girl.

Minagawa put down the bowl and smiled.  It was time.  He stuffed his hands into his pockets, feeling to make sure the little box was still there in either of them.  He walked toward the girl and took her hands.

Rini looked up at him wide-eyed, unsure and excited about what may take place next, what wonder her love might work.

“Rini-”

However, Minagawa was interrupted by a door slamming open.  Taro looked up at the scene, eyes as wide as saucers, ‘at least.’  Minagawa narrowed his eyes at him, sensing that a proposal would not be taking a place this very moment, and quite disappointed at that.

“Minagawa!  What is all of this?”  Taro asked as a purple butterfly passed by his face, it’s glitter shining off of it.  “The Café is going to open in ten minutes!  And look at this!  The room is overflowing with…  this!”

The door opened behind Taro.  “Morning!” a chipper Tokumi said aloud, before being bombarded with butterflies trying to make their exit.  Tokumi let out a squeal like no other.

Taro shook his head.  “Minagawa, come on!  Let‘s get this cleaned up!” his glance turned to Rini.  ‘So ‘this’ is where she’s been all morning,’  Taro let out a sigh.  He just couldn’t understand what Rini saw in Minagawa.  “Come on, Rini!  You‘re classes are going to be starting soon!  You should prepare for class!”

Rini smiled at him nervously, “Yes, older brother!”  Minagawa had a sort of ‘disappointed’ look for a moment.  Unnoticing this, for she was in a bit of a hurry, she kissed him on the cheek and smiled up at him.  “Thank you for the beautiful morning!”  She gave him a tight hug.  “The most wonderful part of it,” she began.  “Was spending it with you.”  Minagawa smiled, blushing a bit.  Neither noticed the raised eyebrow Taro gave them.

“I love you, Hifumi!” she waved at him on the way out, Minagawa returning the gesture with a blushed-cheek smile and a modest wave.  Then he looked at Taro, who looked like he was about to blow a fuse.  With a chuckle, he proceeded to clean up.

Oh well.

Perhaps summoning spirits to enchant the girl one is proposing to in the place they first met wasn’t always a good idea when the place they first met was the kitchen of the Café he was still working at.

He could see them.  He could see them everywhere.  Everywhere.  He couldn’t sleep, for he feared waking up with them by his bed.  He couldn’t eat, for he feared the illusions he would get that would turn a mere pork-chop into a severed, pest-filled muscle.  He couldn’t bathe for he had nearly been drowned to death on many occasions, his head being violently bashed against the wall on one occasion.  He couldn’t even look into a mirror for fear of seeing either a dead, pitiful Rini or a dead, rather angry Minagawa.

He began sleeping through the day and staying up at night, just so he could get some rest.  He would try staying with Tokumi or Jun, but he would still see them.  He would see them when nothing was there.  Finally, the two began to wonder if Maki was losing it.

Maki would deny this, of course, but would often wonder himself if he was.  He stopped staying with the two when asked to go see a specialist.  He knew what he saw.  At least he thought so.

It was night again.  Maki had woken up sometime in the late evening, ready for the night’s course of events.  Ready for the illusions.  Ready for the faces to show up.  Ready to have his head bashed into the wall, once more.

It would only be a matter of time before he would finally be committed.

Maki stepped out of the shower, steam everywhere.  He took a towel and proceeded to dry off, thinking of the recent events that had just taken place.  The events concerning that…

camera…

He couldn’t shake it off of his mind.  But then who would after killing a friend and love interest? …  He killed them…

He was haunted by it.  He was haunted by those words.  ‘He killed them.’  That day that Taro attacked him, Maki almost wished that he had been killed himself.  He just didn’t think he could live with it.

Maki wrapped a towel around his waist and turned to the sink, clutching the sides as he looked down…  He couldn’t even bare the sight of himself, in knowing that he was a murderer.  But even so, he looked into the mirror, his eyes becoming wide, fear on his face as he pushed himself back from the image in the mirror.  The image of the girl he envied his friend for having.  The image of the girl he had killed.  Burned and mutilated, bits of her skull and muscle-mass showing, some skin hanging off, and sad, desperate eyes looking at him.

Maki hadn’t realized it yet, but the real torture he would go through by using the camera was about to begin: the haunting of the one’s he had killed.

The moon was full and had something of an orange tint to it.  The lovers would take the occasional glance to it, sometimes stopping to stare.  The walk would be quiet here and there, but not the horrid ‘awkward’ quiet that Rini (or anyone else, for that matter) would be bothered with.  Sometimes words just didn’t need to be said.

But the silence was broken and something, apparently, needed to be said as they stood in front of a lonely bridge that wasn‘t so far from the small creek.  “There‘s a story behind this bridge,” Minagawa said.

Rini looked up at him, waiting for him to say more.

“Before this bridge was built,” he began.  “It was the secret meeting place of two lovers.  The relationship was forbidden by society and was punishable by the laws of that time.”

Rini gazed at him in awe, then toward the bridge, imagining such meetings.

Minagawa continued, “Of course, the lovers were caught.  Their punishment was to watch each other burn on a stake.”

Rini gazed on with pity.

“But,” Rini turned her stare to him.  “A mutual friend swiped their remnants and buried them here, together, under where the bridge is now so that their souls could reunite and live on together.  They return some nights, walking together, dancing without music, holding each other…  Their love is timeless.”  Minagawa held Rini close.  “I‘d like for us to meet them one day,” he told her.  “Maybe tonight they will return.”

Rini nodded, smiling as she gazed upon the moonlit trail, her own eternal love by her side as she found herself thankful that she was free to be with him.

*********

There was once a camera that could capture the hearts and souls of living beings…  The camera was stored away in Minagawa’s attic, never intended to be used again.  Once was more than enough…  One time was regrettable…  One time overwhelmed the man with guilt, for he came to realize that, through the lens, the camera would steal their souls and take them into the deepest pits of Hell, never to return again.

It had been years since he had last touched it…  So long that he had finally forgotten about it.  Now he was in his early twenties serving as a kitchen cook and dating the loveliest and most interesting woman he had the pleasure of coming across.

Of course, there was one person that was jealous of their relationship.  Jealous of him for getting her…  Maki…

Maki had tried time after time after time to impress the girl.  Nothing would seem to work.  Now, Maki had decided to play dirty.  She seemed to see so much in Minagawa…  But what if Minagawa wasn’t all that he was cracked up to be?  That’s what he intended to do, was to prove to Rini that Minagawa was a man not to be messed with.

He decided to pick a time and ‘visit’ Minagawa whilst he wasn’t home.  During this visit, Maki rummaged for any kind of ‘evidence’ he could find, finally making his way to the attic.  He was looking long and hard for something, finally coming across a dusty, old camera.  He picked it up and examined it.  He wasn’t sure exactly how old it was…  but it ‘did’ look like it had some film in it.  Maybe film that needed to be developed?  Maybe film showing off one of Minagawa’s horrible ‘experiments’.  This would be good!

He had taken the camera to work one day, with the intentions of going afterwards to get the pictures developed.  How it got into Rini’s hands that day, he wasn’t exactly sure.  To cover up, Maki claimed it to be a camera he ‘found lying around the house,’ not disclosing ‘who’s’ house, exactly.  To make the story believable, he offered to take her picture.  Rini accepted the offer, talking Minagawa into taking the picture with her.

Of course, Minagawa followed through, to Maki’s disappointment.  Minagawa stared at the camera, something familiar about it.  Before he could ask to look at it, the camera flashed.  Both, Minagawa and Rini, fell dead on the spot.

She sat against the bound heater, coffee cup in hand as she stared into the space in front of her, coincidentally, staring at the nightstand.  She had found out something this morning…  Something very big…  She wasn’t really sure what to make of it.  Well…  Actually, there was something she made of it, but she was afraid of how her husband would react.  She was afraid he’d be disappointed in the news.  Or maybe he would see it as a good thing.  It was something he hadn’t mentioned much…

Her gazed focused onto the door as her husband came in.  He looked down at her; his glance seemed to be saying, ‘Why are you here?’  It changed into a sweet smile as he came walking to her side.  “I‘d been looking for you,” he said.

Rini looked down at her coffee, her finger tracing the top of the cup.  Minagawa looked at her with a tilted head and a concerned look.  “What‘s the matter, Rini?” he asked as he knelt beside her.

Rini hesitated.  “There‘s something I need to tell you, Minagawa.”

“Yes?”  he sat beside her and put an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close.  “Is everything alright?  If somebody hurt, then.  I‘ll make them pay.”  With that last sentence said, an evil gleam grazed on the surface of his eye.

“No,” she shook her head.  She set the coffee down next to her and took his hand, pausing once more.

Minagawa chuckled, catching Rini by surprise.  She looked at him in wonder.  Smile still on his face, he took out… something… from his pocket.  A familiar something.  Rini’s eyes widened as she realized what it was.

“We‘re expecting a little one,” he said, his smile growing sweetly.  “Is that what you wanted to say?”

Rini grinned.  “Yes…  Are you happy?”

Minagawa embraced her with a hug.  “I couldn‘t be happier,” he said.

Rini sat against the wall of the old, broken house.  Broken…  That’s how she was feeling.  She was feeling very broken…  But not as broken as Maki’s arm seemed to be after having jumped over the remnants of the wall.  Minagawa sat beside her, shaking his head at Maki, giving off a weak chuckle every now and then as he watched Rini fix up the blonde’s arm.  The ignorant fool should have known better.

“Shut up!” Maki growled at Minagawa.

Rini looked up at Maki with widened eyes.  Maki chuckled nervously.

“I‘ll be right back,” Minagawa said, giving Rini a small hug before getting up and going over to the other side of the wall.

Silence…

Maki looked at Rini, who had dismissed that glare and went on to finish wrapping his arm.  “So, you‘re ‘really‘ interesting in him, aren‘t you?”

Rini blushed slightly as she nodded.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the wall, Minagawa looked down at his voodoo doll, the doll’s arm bent in an inhumanly position that looked eerily like Maki’s arm.  Minagawa smiled.  He wasn’t possessive.  Really…  He wasn’t…

He couldn’t understand it.  Maki ‘just’ couldn’t understand why this beautiful girl wanted to be with that creep, Minagawa, rather than him.  ‘He’ was the pretty one.  ‘He’ was the charming one.  Heck, ‘he’ was the ‘normal’ one!  Yet, it was Minagawa she was after.

Darn it!  But alas, nothing was official between them.  This gave Maki the hope that he may still have a chance.  He may ‘still’ have a chance.  Every time she would come into the café, he would go out of his way to impress her, though, with Tokumi around, it didn’t go well half of the time.  But then again, Minagawa would just step out of the kitchen, and Rini’s face would brighten up.  He couldn’t understand it, but he would keep trying, keep hoping.

Maki was in the kitchen one day near closing time.  Minagawa to.  Maki said nothing to Minagawa in fear that he might say something he’d regret.  He was trying to keep quiet, he really was…  It was Minagawa that spoke up, “Have you ever loved anyone so much that you would write them poetry with your own blood?”

Maki’s eyes widened, gaze turned on Minagawa.  He just couldn’t respond to that.

“This place is kind of scary, Minagawa,” the girl stated, her lover close by, her arms wrapped around his left arm as he guided her through the town.  It was the least he could do.  He had gotten them into this mess as one of his spells had gone wrong and had brought the two into this warped world.

He wasn’t scared.  But he was unsure of what exactly to expect from a place like this.  He had been making sure that Rini was close by and safe, that nothing would get her.  He would be incapable of forgiving himself if he let something happen to her.

“I‘m sorry,” he retorted several minutes after Rini had spoken.  “I know you‘re not used to things like this just yet.”

Rini looked up at Minagawa with a look of concern.  She hadn’t recall seeing him with such a solemn expression before.  Growing worried for him (and herself, to a lesser extent) she held him close.  Minagawa stopped walking, as did Rini.  He looked down at the girl, waiting for her to do something…

“I know we‘ll get out of this, Minagawa…”  Rini said.  “As long as you‘re by my side, I can get through this to.  I believe in you.”  Minagawa had always guided through her insecurities.  He was always there for her.  Rini wanted to do the same, be there for him as he had for her.  It meant the world to her.

Minagawa looked indifferent for a moment.  Then, he gently took his arm away from her and embraced her with a gentle hug, holding her close.  There was silence from both parties for a moment, only the chilled wind blowing through the alley of blue and green doors and faces.  Minagawa finally spoke up.  “Thank you,” he said.

Minagawa didn’t really need much to bring him back up, but it meant the world to him to know that she would still be there when he failed.

Taking cooking lessons with this ‘Minagawa’ character was something that Rini had been looking forward to.  She had been to the café he worked at and had eaten a slice of one of his cakes; the most delicious she had ever eaten!

Now, there she was in an apron in the same kitchen with Minagawa.  She had been feeling somewhat nervous about cooking under him, worried that her cooking may not be good enough, but keeping herself encouraged by reminding herself, ‘It’s a lesson.  I don’t have to cook perfectly.’

It seemed as though Minagawa could sense what she was feeling.  He would give her comforting smiles, make comforting gestures, say comforting things…  He was very sweet about everything.

“Now,” he began.  “Take this breadstick.”  Rini did as told, taking it from him.  Then, Minagawa took the hand the breadstick he had given to Rini was in, resulting in a slight brush from Rini.  “And with a firm grip, you dip it down into the chocolate like this,” he said as he guided her hand into the pot of liquid chocolate, making sure to keep the appropriate distance away from the possibility of a burn.  “And this is how you pull it out,” he said, again, guiding her hand and placing the pocky stick onto the wax paper.

His hands…  they felt very nice…  very soft, or so Rini noted.

“While those are getting ready for consumption, we‘ll try out those stars you made,” Minagawa said.

Rini looked to the floor.  Half of the stars she had made were burnt and the other half…  well, they didn’t exactly look like stars at all.

Minagawa picked up one of the stars and took a bite out of it.  As he was chewing, he looked over at Rini.  Sensing the insecurity, he chuckled, something he saw that got her attention.

“I know they don‘t look like stars…” she said aloud.

Minagawa smirked.  “But, they‘re very special,” he said to her.

Rini looked up at him confused.  Minagawa continued, “These are stars from the heart of a very special girl.”

Rini glanced down to the floor, blushing as Minagawa smiled at her.

Characters: MinagawaXRini (Circus Freak‘s OC)

**************************************

Taro stood by the door, watching Minagawa through the window as he walked up to Rini in the cold snow.  Minagawa had asked his sister to meet with him outside today.  Taro knew what for, a deep sigh resulting from the thought…  the thought of not being able to stop it.  His sister state of being was in jeopardy and there was no way he could stop it.  No way at all.  It was all up to her and he hoped with every breath in his body that she could stop the crisis from starting…

Minagawa stopped for a minute, smiling as he watched Rini catching snowflakes with her tongue until she noticed Minagawa standing there.  He watched as she came walking his way, smile on her face.  “The snow is so wonderful today!”  She said to him.  “I don‘t remember one so beautiful.”

“More beautiful than the night I had asked you out?” Minagawa had asked, expression going unchanged.  “The stars were shining, remember?  Giving birth to many, many snowflakes that would rest by our feet.”

Rini looked up at the evening sky, stars starting to come out, full moon beginning to rise.  The horizon was just as magnificent.  She looked back at Minagawa, assuming he hadn’t moved his gaze off of her the whole time.  “More beautiful,” she said.

Minagawa smirked, then turned his head to a tree.  “Sukekiyo.”

Rini tilted her head at the tree, watching as the black cat came towards them with something in it’s mouth.  As it came to her feet, Sukekiyo placed down what looked like a stick doll of sorts.

Minagawa knelt down to pick it up and then stood up and showed the structure to Rini.  It looked to be of some sort of voodoo doll… And there was something sticking out of it’s chest.  A black diamond?

“To you, Rini, I offer my heart and soul,” Minagawa took it out, revealing that it was a ring.  “I would like for you to be my life and after life partner, Rini.”

Taro watched as his sister excitedly hugged the man, ever so enthusiastically.  He sighed.  He couldn’t decide which made him feel worse: the fact that his sister was getting married or the fact that Minagawa would become his brother-in-law.

“Hey…” Tokumi said from the other room.  “I thought you couldn‘t see the stars when it snowed.”

Taro decided the latter.

A/N: VOOOIIII!!!  Gah…  I always tend to write a sappy Minagawa…  X____________X  But he at least came out a ‘little’ stranger this time!!!  XD  And…

The thing with the stars and the snow…  I didn’t think about that until the end, so…  uh…  voiiii…  There came the funny bit…  ^^;;;

But anyway, CircusFreak, I really hope you enjoyed this!!!  I’m hoping that Rini was very much in character…  The others as well, for that matter…  x_x  Nobody loves Café Kichijouji De…  Vooiiii……
